The Task Set Library is a centrally located repository of standard sets of tasks which are likely to be re-used on many projects. The library is itself stored as one large Microsoft Project plan, and each task set consists of a summary task and any number of sub-tasks - the name of the summary task identifies the task set name. A very useful feature of the Task Set Library is that special keywords can be used in the task names and resource names in the library, these keywords enable the task to link to specific data held within the relevant Product Description, Risk or Issue Form. When tasks are subsequently generated in a project plan for a specific Product, Issue or Risk, the keywords will cause the relevant Form data to be transferred to the generated tasks on the project plan. For example;
The full set of keywords available for use is described in detail in the p2msp Help File Another useful feature is that you can specify your own Role Names as resources in the task library, and assign them to specific tasks in the library. The roles within the library appear in the p2msp Options screen on an individual project, where the Project Manager can specify a named project resource to be assigned for that role whenever tasks are generated. These features combine to make the Task Set Library a powerful tool for applying best practices to all of your organisation's projects - the Task Set library can become the recipe book for different types of tasks across all of your projects. If required, SPMS can provide
consultancy services to assist your organisation in building your own
customised Task Set Library. |
